A Ford Racing modified 2011 Mustang GT has become the fastest production car in the world after David Ragan set the Bristol Half Mile speed record at Bristol Motor Speedway during the World?s Fastest Half-Mile Speed Trials. The Mustang lapped the track at 98.497 mph in 19.481 seconds, with second place going to Scott Russell?s Yamaha Superbike run of 97.990 mph in 19.582 seconds.
The Kona Blue Ford Mustang GT was able to achieve such a feat with its 5.0L supercharged engine provided by Ford Racing. The supercharger kit was able to boost the total output to a blistering 624 HP, up from 412 HP. The suspension was also modified with a Ford Racing FR3 handling pack and stopping power came from the new Brembo big brake kit.
