Lorenzo & Simoncelli Debates About Ethics Racing

Estoril – Jorge Lorenzo involved a small quarrel with Marco Simoncelli in post-qualifying press conference MotoGP Portugal. Both are debating the ethics of the race.

Lorenzo and Simoncelli are the dwellers of the two pole position in race in Estoril on Sunday (01/05/2011). Both finished the first and second fastest in the qualifying session.

Earlier this week, Lorenzo had criticized the driving style Simoncelli who judged too aggressive. He gave the example of his duel with Honda Gresini riders at the last series last season in Valencia.

In a press conference after qualifying session, Simoncelli tried to comment on criticism Lorenzo.

“I saw something she said about my driving style. But, for me, he said the wrong thing because he said I was nudged and she nearly fell. That’s not true because I was in front and he tried to pass me and he made a mistake . To me, it’s not a good example, “Simoncelli said, as quoted by Autosport.

Lorenzo did not want to just give up. He remained firm in his opinion that driving style Simoncelli also not favored by the other drivers.

“From my perspective, I think yesterday I say the right thing. To me, it’s not a problem. If nothing happens in the future, it is not a problem. We’ll see what happens,” he explained.

“I think you’ve been nudging other drivers. How many races I did not fall or bump other drivers?” Lorenzo continued.

“That’s your opinion, but I think many people here who agree with me. Please ask (Andrea) Dovizioso, for example. Or (Hiroshi) Aoyama,” added the world champion of 2010.

Half joking, Simoncelli replied: “Okay, then I would be arrested …”

Simoncelli jokes did make the crew of the media in a press conference room laughed. But Lorenzo expression remained serious.

“Everyone laughed, but it’s not funny because we played with our lives,” said Lorenzo.

“We were driving at 300 km / h with a motor that is very heavy and powerful. It’s not a mini bike. It’s a dangerous sport and you have to think about what you do,” he explained.

When asked whether he would be ready to fight with Simoncelli in race in Estoril, Lorenzo admitted prepared and ready to race with his own style.

“It’s not a problem, I am ready to fight with other drivers. I do not like fighting with no net. I was involved an accident with (Alex) de Angelis in Japan and he fell because of my mistake. But from this time onwards, I’ve tried to race with a net, “continued the young Spaniard this.

“I can make mistakes because I am human. But when I race, I think twice. I do not follow your heart because it is something that relates to your health and also with the health of other racers,” he concluded.
