Alvaro Bautista heads to Brno this weekend with a smile on his face after a positive weekend at Indianpolis. The Spaniard has the confidence and feel for the bike back that he enjoyed before the Mugello round and at Indy he was able to return to the fight for the positions that matter. The goal for Brno is to back up this performance and take another step forward in quality. Another technical problem saw Michele Pirro forced to retire from the race once again in America but FTR's engineers are working hard to make sure it doesn't happen again. After showing his pace amongst the fastest CRTs on track at Indianapolis the Italian is determined to make up for his disappointment at Brno.
Alvaro Bautista "I was particularly satisfied with our performance at Indianapolis. We worked had all weekend and got what we deserved on Sunday. I have got the feeling back with the bike that I had before Mugello and that makes me optimistic about going straight to Brno. We have to back-up the hard work we have done in America at a circuit I like. We will need to work hard again to find a balanced bike that allows me to be quick in the direction changes. I am feeling confident and determined.”
Michele Pirro "Another DNF is not what we wanted after working so well in practice and setting such a good pace. Now I just hope that FTR have fixed the problem because we are not far off the best CRT bikes in the class and at a circuit like Brno that I know so well I am sure we can be fast again and I want to prove it by finishing the race with a good result. We all deserve it, the guys in the team are doing a great job and I have never lost faith in this project."
Fausto Gresini "Finally Alvaro rediscovered his feeling for the bike at Indianapolis and showed that he can run with the front guys. We have a competitive bike again and the goal is to confirm this good form at Brno. It has been a good circuit to us down the years, especially twelve months ago with that fantastic first podium for Marco Simoncelli and we hope it can be a good omen for Alvaro this weekend. I also hope Brno can bring a bit of good luck to Michele Pirro after his fourth consecutive DNF at Indianapolis. He was forced out by a problem with the swingarm and that's hard to take because he was so fast in qualifying. The FTR engineers need to fix the problem so that Michele and our CRT bike can show their true potential."
